Leaders in Action

The University of North Dakota (UND) is the state's oldest university, equipping students with the insights to lead and the skills to make a difference. We focus on our goals with the eye of a hawk and rise above whatever challenges come our way. We are leaders that do and doers that lead.

The Fighting Hawk

Our 100+ year athletic legacy continues to soar. Most recently, we've achieved conference championships in football, volleyball and men's and women's basketball. And let's not forget our 2016 NCAA Men's Hockey Championship — our 8th in school history!

A Future That Works

Our graduates are prepared for a lifetime of success – 85% of UND graduates are employed in positions related to their UND education. As the only university in the state with graduate, law and medical schools, UND continues to lead in educating the region's doctors, lawyers, engineers, scientists and business professionals.

Real Research

Research at UND is shaping the next generation of scientists, engineers, teachers, and leaders in government and industry.

Quick Facts

Established by the Dakota Territorial Assembly in 1883, six years before the establishment of the state of North Dakota, it is the state's oldest. UND was founded with a strong liberal arts foundation and expanded to include scientific research.
